"A brighter future for your children"

Ilford Jewish Primary (IJPS)

The history of the school reflects the history of the local Jewish community and some children are the fourth generation of their family to attend the school. IJPS was previously Stepney Jewish School founded in 1870, moving to its present site exactly 100 years later.

Happy and Secure
At IJPS, we believe that children learn best when they are happy, feel secure, are confident in their identity and enjoy the success of achievement. We work hard to maintain a school community where everyone feels recognised, valued and able to contribute and where children can develop a strong commitment to their Jewish identity.

Positive Approach
Each child has an individual approach to learning - some learn best by being active whilst others prefer to study or to explore ideas. At IJPS, we strive to ensure that classrooms reflect the range of learning styles and that the curriculum is delivered using creative, motivational and inspirational teaching. We have a stimulating learning environment in which children are motivated to attain and maintain high standards in everything that they do.

We believe in a positive approach to managing behaviour as this helps children achieve emotional maturity. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions, support others, become independent learners, to be able to show initiative and to solve problems.

Community Links
IJPS has strong links with synagogues, local care agencies and other schools, and our children are encouraged to be active within the wider Jewish community.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our Special Educational Needs team. We believe that a school's values are reflected in the quality of provision for children who are more able, have difficulties with their learning or who may have other special needs.

When a child joins our school, whether in the nursery, reception or at a later stage, they become a member of a vibrant, happy community.
