Activity

We are about to start the month of Nisan - Celebrating the festival of Pesach Sing this song about cleaning for Pesach.
Use lots of actions!
Tune: Row, Row, Row the Boat
Scrub, scrub, scrub the floor,
Make it nice and clean,
Let's get rid of all the crumbs,
No chametz to be seen.

Dust, dust, dust so high,
High above your head,
Clean the cobwebs all away,
Until it's time for bed.

Wash, wash, wash our toys,
Until they're nice and clean,
No more dirt and sticky marks,
The best they've ever been!

Activity

The weeks before Pesach - Celebrating the festival of Pesach
Adapted from 'Brainwaves' (see Bibliography - AJE)

Print the picture on
Resource Page 1. Make two copies of this page for each child in the group. Take half the number of copies, cut out the circles and then cut those circles into the six separate sections.

Divide the children into a few small groups of four or five, depending on the number of children and helpers. They can sit on the floor or at a table. Each child is given a sheet with the seder plate pictures on. Place the individual 'pie' shaped pieces face down in the centre, making sure there are six for each child. Each child takes it in turn to pick up a piece, identifies what it is and places it on the correct place on their sheet. See who completes their 'seder plate' first.

Activity

This Shabbat is Shabbat Hagadol and Erev Pesach - Celebrating the festival of Pesach This activity is to remind the children what they will be eating/not eating during the Pesach festival.
Cut out pictures of chametz and non-chametz foods. Use magazines, advertising material etc.
Designate one side of the room 'Chametz' and one side 'Not Chametz'.
Hold up each picture in front of the children. The children take it in turns to identify whether the food is chametz or not chametz. They then take the picture and stand at the appropriate side of the room.
OR
Print the story on Resource Pages 1 and 2. Tell the story, with the children doing lots of 'pulling' actions!
