Sing this song about making up with our friends and not fighting.
Tune: This Old Man
Please don't fight,
It's not right,
Take my hands and
Hold on tight.
Best of friends we now will be
Won't you come and play with me.
Have the children standing up in pairs and doing the actions whilst singing the song.

Key Stage 1 5 - 8 |
This is the Shabbat before Yom Kippur, Shabbat Shuvah - Thinking about our behaviour |
Being sorry when we do something wrong is not enough. A famous Rabbi,
Rabbi
Moshe
Ben
Maimon, known as the
RAMBAM or Maimonides, believed we had to go through at least four different stages before our Teshuva is complete.
Ask the children to think of something that they have done wrong.
Then ask what they think they could do to make things right.
Write the following phrases on four cards.
- Know that you did wrong and say so
- Say you are sorry for what you did
- Promise not to do it again
- Do the right thing if something similar happens again
See if they can work out in which order to put them.
Which do they think is the hardest thing to do?
(Adapted from an idea from the BJE of Greater New York)

Key Stage 2 8 - 11 |
Chapter 31 Verse 19 is taken to mean that each person should take upon themselves the mitzvah of writing of a Sefer Torah - Knowledge about a 'Sofer', a Scribe, and his work, 'Sofrut'. |
Although it is written that all people should fulfil this mitzvah, people share in the mitzvah by taking part in writing the final sentences of a Torah scroll, together with the Sofer, the scribe.
Have a discussion about what else a Sofer writes (Tefillin, mezuzot, megillot). Find out how much the children know about Sofrut, the work of a sofer.
For some background knowledge for the leader(s) of the session, take a look at the Torah Tots website, www.torahtots.com. Open the 'LEARNING IS FUN' drop-down menu and click on the title 'Sefer Torah' for facts and a description of the work of a Sofer.
