This is the Shabbat before Rosh Hashanah - Learning about Rosh Hashanah Print Resource Pages 1 - 5. These show the different blasts of the Shofar, each one on a separate page, represented as lines or broken lines, and one page showing them all together. Print as many as necessary for the size of your group.

Explain the difference in the length of the blasts and what they are called, the difference between the Tekiah and Tekiah Gedolah especially. Distribute the sheets and then call out the names of the different blasts one at a time e.g. 'Tekiah!' All those with the Tekiah sheet have to mimic that blast

Fire!' on Resource Page 6 and read it to the group. Ask those in the group who want to speak what 'good' things they will try to achieve in the coming year and how they will go about it.

Moshe gathers the people together and tells them that they all have a responsibility to keep God's commandments at the time and in the future - Individual Jews are part of a bigger community Part of the strength of the Jewish people over thousands of years is how they help each other within a community.

Write some titles on cards and distribute to pairs of children to decide how these subjects contribute to keeping the Jewish community together, and then bring their ideas to a whole group discussion. The following are a few suggestions:
