From Arrival to Expulsion
From Arrival to Expulsion is a history text book designed to meet the requirements of the history national curriculum early KS3.

It charts the life of Jews in Medieval England from their arrival with William the Conqueror in 1066 to their expulsion by Edward I in 1290.

It has been written by well known educator and authority Marilyn Nathan in conjunction with Jewish Studies and history staff from the major Jewish Secondary Schools in the U.K.

In commissioning this book, the Agency has addressed a lacuna in the study of History for Jewish teens. It is important to provide children in Jewish schools with an understanding of the way in which a particular episode in world history affected Jews.

This book especially draws parallels between general life in England in the 11th and 12th centuries, illustrating how Jews were both protected and restricted and how Christian attitudes impacted on the quality of life of the Jew.

The text is supported with well formulated questions, stimulating activities and challenging tasks designed to enrich and extend children's knowledge and understanding of History and its influence and affects on Jewish life.
